I’m Director of Professional Education at OSU these days, working with all programs that certify educators. I taught 5th grade and 6-12th grade library media for 6 years, served as faculty in Elementary Ed./Literacy for OSU for 5.5 years, and got to work placing educator candidates with effective, caring mentors (luckily we have lots of those) in schools to apply what they were learning for a few years before this gig.
My OSU Curriculum Studies program was even more fun than I imagined it would be, and like all teachers, I’m still learning. A grad class is where I first heard about the OSU Writing Project (OSUWP)/NWP, which I joined in 2003. Writing Project quickly became my professional home. We’re a professional development org for educators across all content areas, all grade level PK-college, who work on writing, teaching, and social justice together. If somebody invites you to do anything related to writing project, just say yes. You’ll be glad you did.
